How do I change the URL of an article or blog post?

You may only change what we call the "friendly URL" of an article or blog post. If you'd like to create a redirect, or a custom URL, learn how to here.

For example, you could change this URL:

http://www.epublishing.com/articles/496-futuregov-scores-best-online-launch-award

to this URL:

http://www.epublishing.com/articles/496-futuregov-award

But the article or blog post ID (in this case, 496) will remain the same. The article ID number is what directs traffic to the correct page, regardless of what the "friendly URL" is set at. That's why changing the "friendly URL" will not affect any previous links made to this article.

1. In the Article or Blog Manager, visit the SEO tool for the article or blog post for which you want to change the URL.

2. To change the URL, click and type in the first field.

The original URL is automatically generated based on the headline you selected for your article or blog post. To generate a "friendly url automatically," click on the link next to Friendly URL.

3. When your changes are made, click Save.
