Beyond the reports in the Report Center, how do I create analytical reports?

ePublishing has built in tools to help you create Analytics Reports based on data stored in your database. This data is presented in a CSV that is easily downloaded and can be aggregated with the various other reports available to help your marketing team determine key aspects of your visitors and site information.

To begin, you will need to be a user with an Admin role and Report Center privilege added. You can then login to the frontend of your site.

Access

Access the new analytics report page by appending /reports/analytics to your sites domain. e.g. www.yourdomain.com/reports/analytics. This will present you with a form asking you for the start date and end date ranges for this report to encompass, as well as the report type you would like to run.

Report Types

Currently there are 4 report types available:

  • Articles
  • Authors
  • Pages
  • Taxonomies

Each of these types displays various types of information and this information can be aggregated together in Excel to build all sorts of complex data charts filled with information to help you better engage your readers.

Generating Reports

To generate a report, select your date ranges and the type of report you wish to run, then press the "Generate Report" button. Depending on the scope of the date range, this can take as long as 30 seconds to run.

Once the report has successfully run, your browser will prompt you to save the report. Reports are delivered as CSV files for easy viewing in Excel.
