Pending Mailings / Newsletter Status Codes

If you'd like to check the status of a newsletter deployment, you can do so in the Newsletter manager here:

October 2022 - the Pending Mailing table was moved above the Pending List Updates table, and mailing actions changed from Delete to Cancel in order to retain important error messages.

Pending Mailing table

The Status column will contain one of 3 values: Processed, Not Processed, or Error.

Processed: The newsletter has been processed and sent to your ESP (the Sent Count does not increment for this status code).

Not Processed: The newsletter has not yet sent because of an issue, the Scheduled Task will retry deploying every 15 minutes and incrementing the Sent Count until it has reached 4 failed attempts (at which point the Status will change to Error).

Error: You will see this in the event of an error, after the status Not Processed has iterated through all 4 send attempts.

Other columns:

Send Count: Indicates how many times ePublishing has attempted to send the user data to your ESP. Send count will show as 0 if successfully Processed.

Error Message: Indicates the message ePublishing received from the ESP.

CANCEL: Causes the mailing to be removed from the ESP processing queue, while leaving the entry in the database for use in error tracking and debugging.

There will now always be a minimum of 2 minutes, and a maximum of 7 minutes, between the time that a queue item is submitted and sent to the ESP. Prior to this change in October 2022, a mailing was sent as soon as the 5 minute scheduled task is run, which could have been immediately after submission, with no time to cancel.
