How do I create a landing page that includes content from multiple topics based on taxonomy?
You may want to create a page that shows articles that fall under multiple topics. For example, you may want to show all articles under "real estate" and "housing data" on one page, which may be designed to target real estate investors. Or maybe a page with articles tagged with "education" and "teaching best practices."
Or you may want to show all articles tagged as News & Analysis in the topic of Sports Business. Both of these are taxonomies:
- News & Analysis = Classification > Articles > News & Analysis
- Sports Business = Topics / Category > Topics > Sports Business
This article will show you how to create a compound topic or multiple topic page and add a link to your navigation so that your readers can access it.
1. Here's an example of a compound topic landing page. This one features content tagged with both News & Analysis AND Sports Business.
2. Make sure the taxonomy tags (topics) you want to highlight exist before you begin. Visit your Taxonomy Manager.
3. Use the taxonomy under Categories to create your multiple-topic landing page.
4.1. Or find the ID number on the front-end of your website.
5. To view your compound landing page: On the front-end of your website, type the two ID#s in the URL, separated by a comma and no space as shown in the image below.
The URL will be:
www.domain.com/topics/123,655
Or, another option:
www.domain.com/topics/123,655-my-new-compound-landing-page
6. To create a redirect or friendly link to the resulting multiple-topic page, use your Redirect Manager.
6.1. Click on on the blue plus sign in the Redirect Manager under Editorial on your dashboard.
6.2. Put your multiple-topic page URL in the To field, and your friendly URL in the From field.
If the landing page is internal, as most are, you will not need to include your site's domain.
6.3 click Save Changes to create
Depending on your website's cache rules, it may take several minutes for the new link to take effect.
Now you can share the easier URL with readers.
7. How can I use it? Is there a way to automatically create this URL?
At this time, there is no "automatic" way to create this compound topic landing page URL. Editors must decide to create a new landing page and then do so manually.
Places you could surface this link for your readers to access:
- Your site's navigation or navigation menus that may be unique to your site. Use the Navigation Manager.
- Marketing or other landing pages. Use the Page Manager tool.
- Editorial content areas available on your site.
- Cross-link in the bodies of articles, product descriptions, event descriptions, and any other content on the site.

Follow the next steps to add a link to a navigation menu on your website:
8. To add a link to this new page to your navigation, such as a footer or main menu:
8.1. To access the Navigation menu on your Dashboard, hover over Editorial and select Navigation.
9. After selecting the menu from the dropdown at the top, your page will look like this:
10. Click on the plus sign next to "Add Navigation"
11. To add an additional link in your menu - in this case the footer - right click on [Footer] and select Create Child Link.
11.1. If you'd like to add a link under a main category in the Main Navigation, for example, click on the folder you'd like your link to appear in.
11.2. You may also click New Child Link after clicking on the folder of the navigation item you want your link to appear within.
12. Upon clicking Create Child Link, the following screen will appear.
13. Add a name for your link under Title.
14. Paste the URL of your new multiple-topic landing page under URL. You may use the redirect you created for the page, or the original URL featuring the taxonomy IDs.
If the landing page is internal, as most are, you will not need to include your site's domain.
If you'd like your link to open in a new window, select Open in New Window at the bottom of this side bar screen.
15. Generally, Site Placement and Image are not used with navigation, but each is highly site-specific.
Check with your solutions manager.
16. When you are finished, click Save Changes.
17. To display the link in your navigation, you must make sure Hidden is NOT checked.
17.1. If you don't want the item to appear, check Hidden? and click on "Save Changes."
